Tikkun Olam / Social Action

The members of Beit Ahavah are dedicated to the principle of Tikkun Olam, Healing the World. The Social Action Committee spearheads Tikkun Olam projects ranging from serving at local soup kitchens to participating in Habitat for Humanity efforts.

Over the past year, the Social Action Committee has worked on several projects, some ongoing and some one time events. Throughout the year, we have organized our community’s involvement with the Manna project, serving food at a community meal at St. John’s church on Sundays and preparing and serving food at a community dinner on Wednesday evenings. As we do every year, we have coordinated a High Holiday food drive, delivering 2,000 lbs. of food to the Survival Center. We did our second annual Purim basket delivery, with the help of many children and families who walked the baskets to the River Valley Rest Home, our neighbors across the street. Finally, in June, Mark Mazzola formed a Relay For Life Team, members of which were on the track for a total of 24 hours, raising several hundred dollars for the American Cancer Society.

With more help and more members of our committee, we hope to do even more in the coming year.
